True Fight Playbook: Opening Script – First 1–2 Moves From 5 HP

True Fight starts every duel at 5 health. The first one or two rounds rarely need to end the fight—they need to stop you from throwing the duel with a random opening. A deliberate opening script gives you attack and defense data before you spend high-variance specials. This Playbook covers what rounds 1–2 are for, when body or legs pressure beats an early head gamble, and when CounterAttack is a smarter opener than CriticalHit.

What should True Fight’s first 1–2 rounds actually achieve?

True Fight’s opening rounds should gather pattern data and keep your 5 HP intact—not force a finish. Each round you still pick one attack zone and one defense zone among head (O), body (||), and legs (/), plus an optional special before the reveal. True Fight awards XP for successful hits and defenses every round, so a clean early exchange builds both information and score while you learn the opponent.

Treat the start as a short experiment:

  • Round 1 reveals their first attack habit and first guard habit.
  • Round 2 confirms whether that habit repeats or was a one-off.
  • Only after those reveals should you rewrite the plan toward finishes, CriticalHit swings, or last-HP tools.

True Fight players who “random” all three commits on move one often donate free hits: head (−2) into an obvious guard, or an uncovered defense that eats −2 before any read exists.

How do you avoid a random start in True Fight?

True Fight opening discipline means picking a script before the board appears, then adapting after the first reveal—not tapping zones by impulse. Write a simple default:

  1. Defense bias — start guarding the zone you personally fear most (many players open with head for −2; if that is your meta, open guarding head).
  2. Attack bias — open with body or legs (−1 damage, +1 XP) into a zone you guess is soft, unless you already know this opponent.
  3. Special bias — default to no gamble, or CounterAttack if you trust the opening guard more than an early damage spike.

True Fight CriticalHit (33% chance to double attack damage) belongs later, after you know an open zone. Burning CriticalHit on round 1 with no evidence converts the opener into a lottery. FuriousStrike does not apply at 5 HP—True Fight FuriousStrike only adds +1 damage when you have 1 HP left—so do not plan openings around it.

After round 1 resolves, update one dimension only: change defense to match the attack they just used, or change attack to the guard they just left open. Changing attack, defense, and special all at once resets you to “random” again.

When should you pressure body/legs vs gamble on head early?

True Fight head attacks deal −2 health and +2 XP; body and legs deal −1 health and +1 XP. Early head is correct when you have a specific reason—rematch knowledge, a known open O guard, or an opponent who never protects head. Without that reason, True Fight body or legs pressure is the safer opening chip: smaller punish if they guess your attack, still positive XP, and enough damage to test whether they rotate guards.

Use this opener matrix:

SituationPrefer
Unknown opponent, round 1Body or legs attack + solid default defense
Opponent left a zone open last fightAttack that zone; keep defense on their last finishing habit
You need fast equalizer and have a readHead (−2); still avoid CriticalHit until the open zone is confirmed
You expect to nab their first attackCounterAttack + matching defense

True Fight successful defense still pays +1 XP even when you take no damage. Surviving round 1 with a correct guard is already a win for the script.

Is CounterAttack a better True Fight opener than CriticalHit?

True Fight CounterAttack converts a correct defense into 1 damage dealt back. In openings, CounterAttack fits when your primary goal is “don’t die to their first guess” and you are willing to stake the special on the guard read. CriticalHit fits when you already know where they fail to block and you need a doubled landing hit—rare on a pure cold open.

Default recommendation for True Fight openers:

  • Rounds 1–2, unknown foe: CounterAttack or no special; body/legs attack; defense on the most common lethal zone you expect.
  • After a confirmed open guard: CriticalHit becomes available as a calculated spike, not a panic button.
  • Friend rematches: True Fight first duel with a new player today grants +100 XP, later duels with the same player +20 XP—use rematches to reuse a proven opening script instead of re-rolling random zones.

Sample opening script (copy and adapt)

True Fight sample script for a cold queue duel:

Round 1

  • Defense: head (O) — covers the −2 finish line many players try early.
  • Attack: body (||) — chip for −1 / +1 XP while you watch their guard.
  • Special: CounterAttack — pays if the head guard is right.

Round 2

  • Defense: the attack zone they used in round 1.
  • Attack: the defense zone they left open in round 1 (or legs if they only guarded head).
  • Special: keep CounterAttack if still reading their strike; switch to CriticalHit only if round 1 proved a soft target and you need burst.

True Fight will force you off this script when the opponent breaks the pattern—that is the point. The script exists so you have something to break from, not so you autopilot forever.

Quick checklist: True Fight first 1–2 moves

  1. Start from 5 HP with a written default: defense zone, attack zone, special.
  2. Prefer body/legs chips over blind head gambles on round 1.
  3. Do not spend CriticalHit before you have a revealed open guard.
  4. After round 1, change only one commit (attack or defense or special).
  5. Bank the read for mid-duel pressure and for the last-HP clutch if the fight goes long.

Start with a script, not a shrug

True Fight openers decide whether you enter the mid-fight with information or with a self-inflicted deficit. Launch a duel and run the first two commits on purpose: https://t.me/TrueFightBot

Next: turn those early reveals into habits you can punish — Reading attack and defense patterns. When the bar hits 1 HP, spend the read with Last-HP clutch.
